Stretching along 18.5 km of coastline between Cape Vacca and Springerbaai, about 35 km west of Mossel Bay near Vleesbaai, Fransmanshoek Conservancy is the Western Cape's oldest conservancy, established in 1994 and patrolled by full-time rangers since 2004. Wooden boardwalks, benches at scenic viewpoints, braai facilities and the Punt Huisie information centre serve visitors exploring its rocky points and rehabilitated dune vegetation. Dog owners should note that dogs are not permitted in the conservancy itself, to protect the coastal wildlife.
Note from SitnStay: A No Dogs Allowed sign stands at the conservancy entrance, and dogs are not permitted inside the protected coastal area. In the neighbouring village of Vleesbaai, dogs must be leashed and under strict control in public areas, with faeces removed immediately.
