Greenmarket Square is a cobbled, pedestrian-only square in the heart of Cape Town's CBD, dating back to 1696 and once used as a slave market before becoming today's open-air craft market. Stalls run daily selling African art, woodcarvings, beadwork, textiles and curios, with buskers and drummers adding to the atmosphere. The square is ringed by historic buildings, including the Old Town House, and sits close to major museums and other CBD landmarks.
