Modderfontein Reserve is a 265-hectare private open space in Johannesburg's Modderfontein area, billed as the second-largest private park in Gauteng, with grassland, forest and several dams. Entry fees apply for hiking, bird watching, mountain biking via Taroko Trails, catch-and-release fishing and picnicking with braai facilities at Dam 3, plus lapas available for private hire. Gates are open daily from 6am to 6pm, making it a popular half-day outdoor escape close to the city.
