The Animal Anti-Cruelty League's Port Elizabeth branch is a welfare veterinary hospital in Cleary Park, Gqeberha, running since 1983 and treating around 1300 animals a month for indigent communities in the northern areas of Nelson Mandela Bay. Treatment is means-tested and reserved for owners who qualify for welfare assistance rather than open to all paying clients. The branch also runs a charity shop nearby in Walmer.
Note from SitnStay: Under an agreement with the SA Veterinary Council the clinic does not treat private patients who fail its means test; only welfare-qualifying owners are treated. Hospital consulting hours are weekdays at 08h30 or 13h30-15h30.
