Ertjieskloof Dam

Ertjieskloof Dam sits on the foothills of the Stellenbosch mountains near Coetzenburg Stadium, owned by Stellenbosch University and originally built to irrigate its sports fields. Despite that utilitarian purpose, it has become an informal summer cooling-off spot for students and residents, ringed by footpaths that double as running and mountain-biking routes. It was drained for repairs to a leaking fault line and has since been refilled.
