Thompson Bay Rock Pool

This large tidal pool in Ballito stretches roughly 90 metres and teems with marine life worth a slow look, sitting right next to a shark-netted swimming beach on the KwaZulu-Natal North Coast. Lifeguards are on duty, and there are ablution facilities and outdoor showers for rinsing off after a swim. It's a low-key, family-oriented stop rather than a resort-style beach, with facilities kept to the essentials.
