Leashed dogs are welcome on a roughly 300-metre section of beach near the second lifesaving flag, a rule kept in place to protect African Black Oystercatchers breeding on the sand. Over the December-January peak season, dog walks are restricted to before 09:00 and after 17:00, and owners are expected to clean up after their dogs.
