Melkbosstrand is a long, flat West Coast beach, roughly seven kilometres of sand protected from heavy swell by a rocky point that makes for some of the safest swimming on this stretch of coast. Lifeguards patrol during summer, and a cafe and NSRI station sit midway along the front. Expansive green lawns back the sand, and dogs are welcome on a leash outside peak summer hours, making it a popular walk for locals year-round.
