No enclosed outdoor space — keep recall-shaky dogs on a lead.
Dogs can't come inside.
The eastern section of Melville Koppies Nature Reserve is a ten-hectare ridge of rocky outcrops, aloes and indigenous grassland above Melville, and it is the only part of the reserve where dogs are welcome. Open daily as public open space, it rewards walkers with wide views across Johannesburg from the Louw Geldenhuys viewsite. Volunteers from Friends of Melville Koppies have rehabilitated the area; they ask that dogs be socialised and that owners pick up after them, and suggest walking in groups rather than alone.
Note from SitnStay: Socialised dogs are welcome in the East section only; dogs are not permitted in the Central section. Owners are asked to pick up after their dogs. Walking alone is not advised; group walks can be arranged through the Friends.
