Bloubergstrand sits on Table Bay about 15 kilometres north of central Cape Town and is famous for the classic view of Table Mountain across the water. Cold Atlantic swell and steady trade winds make the area one of the world's top kitesurfing and windsurfing destinations, especially at Big Bay to the west, and locals still gather mussels off the rocks and fish for mullet from the shore. Dogs are not permitted on this beach under the City of Cape Town's bylaws.
Note from SitnStay: The City of Cape Town's official beach dog-zone list records 'Blaauwberg' (the main Bloubergstrand beach) as a no-dogs beach, with no horses either.
