A 21-hectare pocket of Afrotemperate forest and fynbos on the lower slopes of Table Mountain in Constantia, managed by the City of Cape Town as a heritage and biodiversity site. Shaded paths drop through dense trees to a stream bed, with entrances off Constantia Nek Road and Southern Cross Drive; the semi-circular route takes under an hour. Part of the Constantia greenbelt network, it is popular with local walkers and their dogs, which must stay leashed to protect the sensitive vegetation and resident Knysna warblers.
Note from SitnStay: Dogs must be on a leash and under the control of the person walking them at all times; De Hel is one of the Constantia greenbelt areas where Subcouncil 20 requires leashing because it is a heritage and biodiversity site. Clean up after your dog.
