The flat, lower section of Tokai Park sits at the foot of the Constantiaberg in Cape Town's southern suburbs and is the part most people use day to day. Roughly 26 hectares of former plantation ring a 4 km walking and cycling track, with a shaded Bridle Path and Main Drag shared by dog walkers, families, joggers, horse riders and cyclists. At its core is a protected pocket of endangered Cape Flats Sand Fynbos threaded by narrow named trails, and the area is patrolled with cameras after safety upgrades.
Note from SitnStay: A SANParks Level 1 My Activity Permit is required to walk dogs here, with a maximum of two dogs per permit holder. Dogs must be under control at all times; trail listings describe the Lower Tokai walk as on-leash, while SANParks notes some designated off-leash areas in the Tokai plantation, so keep a lead handy and follow the signage.
