High in the mountains between Cape Town's southern suburbs and Noordhoek, Silvermine is a section of Table Mountain National Park built around its reservoir, with slopes crossed by hiking and mountain-biking trails and well-used picnic spots. For dog owners it is one of the park's designated dog-walking areas: dogs are permitted on the far side of the reservoir, provided the walker holds a SANParks My Activity Permit. Each annual permit covers up to two dogs, which must stay under their owner's control at all times.
Note from SitnStay: Dog walking is restricted to the far side of the Silvermine reservoir and requires an annual SANParks My Activity Permit, which covers up to two dogs per walker (a special permit is needed for more). Dogs must be under their owner's control at all times and may not be on the mountain unaccompanied.
