Wedged between Gardens and Oranjezicht in Cape Town's City Bowl, De Waal Park is one of the few city parks where dogs can legally run off leash, provided they stay under their owner's control. Walkers loop around the central fountain beneath a collection of roughly 120 tree species; the grounds are fenced with entry gates on every side and poo-bag stations dotted throughout. An active Friends group helps maintain toilets, a children's play area and a resident coffee stand.

Note from SitnStay: A designated off-leash park, one of very few in Cape Town; dogs must remain under their owner's control, which is how the park keeps the privilege. Poo-bag stations are provided around the park and the Friends of De Waal Park supply free bags.
