An 11-hectare pocket of wetland and green space in Lynnwood Glen, eastern Pretoria, centred on Struben Dam and known for its birdlife, with more than 120 species recorded. A circular walking route of about 1.8 km rings the water, and there are picnic areas and restrooms; entrance is free and gates open daily from 6am to 6pm. Dogs on leash are welcome on the trail and can cool off with a swim in the dam, though owners should stop them chasing the resident ducks and waterbirds.
Note from SitnStay: Dogs are welcome on the 1.8 km circular route but must be kept on a leash, and owners should prevent them from chasing the ducks and other waterbirds. Picnic baskets are allowed but braais are not, and groups larger than 20 must book ahead.
