The Wreck is one of Plettenberg Bay's best-known surf breaks, a sandy-bottom beach break at the northern end of town near Robberg, close to Lookout Beach and Keurbooms. It throws up fast, hollow rights and lefts on south and southeast swell and suits intermediate surfers looking for a longer ride than the more crowded spots nearby. Access is via a beach car park. Dogs are welcome here, though as of a September 2024 update they must stay leashed at all times, a rabies precaution tied to local seal populations.
Note from SitnStay: The Wreck Beach is on Plett Tourism's official dog-friendly beaches list. A September 2024 Bitou Municipality update requires all dogs on Plett beaches, including here, to stay leashed at all times after rabies was detected in local seal populations; owners must clean up waste and a R500 fine applies for unleashed dogs.
