Glenashley Beach is a quiet stretch of coastline in the Durban North suburb of Glenashley, backed by large white sand dunes just south of Umhlanga. Lifeguards are on duty, though rip currents make swimming risky, so it suits a walk more than a swim. Dogs are welcome here, with wide, flat sand and space for pets to roam, and the Umhlanga Lagoon Nature Reserve lies about a kilometre north for a longer, leashed extension of the walk.
