uMhlanga Main Beach is the main swimming beach along uMhlanga Rocks' North Coast promenade, holding Blue Flag status and looked after by the local Urban Improvement Precinct, which funds cleaning, security and maintenance for the public beachfront. It is a wide stretch of sand backed by a paved promenade, popular for swimming, surfing and sunset walks near the lighthouse. Dogs are welcome on-leash on the northern section between Breakers Hotel and the lagoon, and along the promenade, though not on the main Blue Flag bathing area.
Note from SitnStay: Dogs are permitted on the northern section of the beach between Breakers Hotel and the lagoon, and on-leash along the uMhlanga promenade; they are not allowed on the designated Blue Flag bathing section, and access can be restricted over the festive season.
