The Northern Viewing Deck is a lookout point along Umhlanga's paved beachfront promenade, a short walk from the town's landmark lighthouse and dining strip. The promenade draws walkers, joggers and dog owners throughout the day, with views over the Indian Ocean below. It is popular enough with pet owners that the local uMhlanga Urban Improvement Precinct has installed dog-waste bag dispensers along the route and runs an annual community dog walk, Paws on the Promenade, each October.
Note from SitnStay: The promenade is a well-used dog-walking route with council-installed poo-bag dispensers; the local precinct body (uMhlanga UIP) co-hosts an annual leashed dog walk along it with Absolute Pets and Champion Pets.
