A quieter alternative to Hermanus's busier beaches, Onrus is set at the mouth of the Onrus River and known for calmer, more sheltered swimming than the open coast nearby. Dogs are generally welcome on a leash under the local municipal beach bylaw, though sections can be cordoned off as pet-free during peak season when Blue Flag status applies to parts of the beach. It's a popular spot for a relaxed walk, picnic or paddle away from the crowds.
